The Disney Wedding Blog is Moving!

Today is a big-news kind of Friday...

Big News #1: The Disney Wedding Blog is changing its name (again).

The Disney Wedding Blog is no longer the Disney Wedding Blog! I'm changing the name to Magical Day Weddings to fit better with my media company and blend in nicely to my new master plan for wedding blogging (more on that in a minute). The content will be the same and the focus will still be exclusively on Disney and Disney-themed events. Those of you who remember "The Budget Disney Wedding Blog" and "The $20,000 Disney Wedding Blog" know that this isn't the first time we've switched the name around but it's likely to be the last!

And since we're changing the name...

Big News #2: The Disney Wedding Blog is moving!

This blog has been hosted on Blogger, because that's the blogging platform I got used to years ago. I've been meaning to switch over to WordPress, but I've been lazy about it. However, a pro blogging friend of mine recently lost all of her content because Google shut down her blog without warning, cause, or explanation, so that was enough motivation for me!

The good news is that the move to WordPress means we get to play with fancy new things on the site, including threaded comments (in which you guys can respond to each other) and the potential for forums, etc. in the future. The bad news is that I'm going to lose some comments in the transfer and the links are likely to be a mess for a while.

The address is also new, so change your bookmarks and RSS feeds now while you're thinking about it: http://magicaldayweddings.com. I'm stepping the site up in the near future and by July 1st my goal is to post every single day on the blog as part of my grand master plan for wedding blogging...

...which brings me to...

Big News #3: I'm super wedding blogging.

Magical Day Weddings (a.k.a. TheBlogFormerlyKnownAs The Disney Wedding Blog) is part of a new wedding blog library that I've put together called The Wedding Atlas. The atlas consists of a map containing wedding blogs for each of the fifty states as well as a couple of American cities. There will also be other specialty blogs included to go along with Magical Day Weddings, but I'm going to reveal those later as the giveaways continue.

I'm really excited about all of the blogs and I hope that you'll explore the atlas and see the new sites. I've been wanting to start a mainstream wedding blog for a while, since Disney weddings are still having a hard time getting consistent love from the big wedding websites. Easiest way to fix this problem? Turn into a big wedding website and then praise those brides in mouse ears!

Also, I know that big change can be a little annoying when you've just gotten used to the way things are, so I'm sweetening up the transition by rolling out a few features that I always wanted to include on the blog but couldn't because of Blogger's restrictions. For example, we've always had a way to search for spotlights at particular locations, but I wanted to make it more visual and easy to read.

Soooo, I put together a Walt Disney World map that allows you to click on locations and instantly see spotlights from that area. There's only the one map up right now, but I'm planning on doing one for the Disneyland area and then a ton of smaller ones so people can see the differences between the reception spaces in the Grand Floridian, etc. Cool idea, no?

Like I said, I have other tricks up my sleeve, but that's the one you get for today.

So, to sum up:

  1. The Disney Wedding Blog = Magical Day Weddings
  2. www.DisneyWeddingBlog.com = www.MagicalDayWeddings.com (you need to update bookmarks and subscriptions!)
  3. Magical Day Weddings = only 1 of 60 awesomesauce wedding blogs run by yours truly
  4. I'm giving something away every day in June to celebrate the grand opening of The Wedding Atlas
